JAMB vows not to process DE applicants with unverified certificates

For the Advanced Level applicants who registered for the 2023 admissions, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board swore on Friday that it would not process any Direct Entry admission without verifying the candidates’ certificates.

A statement posted on the Board’s official X handle revealed this.

This comes after the Federal Government announced on Tuesday that degree diplomas from the Benin Republic and Togo will no longer be accredited through the Federal Ministry of Education.

As per the Federal Ministry of Education’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Augustina Obilor-Duru signed a statement, which expressed the government’s regret over “some Nigerians who use unscrupulous ways and unethical tactics to obtain a degree, aiming to secure graduate employment opportunities for which they lack the necessary qualifications.”

The Board stated that rather than considering all impacted students from non-responsive universities for admissions for the academic year, the candidates should get in touch with their previous institutions as soon as possible to verify their credentials.

According to JAMB, it wrote to every postsecondary institution that provided the certificates; however, only a sizable portion of them replied favorably.

Candidates might also view the list of non-responsive colleges using links supplied by the test board.

This is to notify all A-Level applicants who submitted for admission in 2023 through Direct Entry (DE) to get in touch with their previous educational institutions as soon as possible to have their certificates verified.

The Board has written to all of the postsecondary institutions that granted the credentials in an attempt to speed up the verification process. While some of them have replied positively, others have been apathetic.

“You hereby acknowledge that without certificate verification, the Board would not process any DE admission, and that theadmission process for the academic year will soon be concluded.

As a result, the Board would not take into account for admission for the academic year all impacted students from non-responsive institutions.
