New naira policy has brought hardship to Nigerians

The Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, lamented the naira redesign’s inadequate implementation, which undoubtedly caused hardship for millions of Nigerians.

Lawan observed that although the policy was admirable, its bad execution had obscured its advantages.

In a statement he personally signed on Thursday, the Senate President made this point clear and called for peace while urging eligible Nigerians to cast their ballots for the All Progressive Party.

“I genuinely sympathize with fellow Nigerians the pain being experienced in our nation as the Central Bank of Nigeria’s currency redesign policy is put into effect,” he added.

We can all agree that the program is a good one, but its poor implementation, regrettably, caused much pain for people all around the nation.

“But, I want to reassure us that this difficulty will soon pass and normalcy will be restored to our everyday lives with appropriate government intervention and the engagement of all parties.”

The Senate president urged the populace to abstain from violence and turn these elections into a celebration of the nation’s democracy.

He urged everyone to perform their share in maintaining Nigeria’s peace, unity, and progress at all times and warned them to never forget that it is the only country they have.

Lawan said, “I urge us all to be of good conduct and make the exercise peaceful as we go to our respective polling units to participate in the elections of a new President and Members of the 10th National Assembly on Saturday, February 25, 2023; to be followed by the elections of state Governors and Members of State Houses of Assembly on Saturday, March 11, 2023.
