Newly transferred DPO kidnapped in Plateau
An officer of the Divisional Police who had just been transferred to the Pankshin Division in Plateau State has been kidnapped by gunmen who are thought to be kidnappers.
Unknown DPO who had just been transferred was abducted on Wednesday at the hotel where he was staying for the local government.
According to a source who spoke to our correspondent, the gunmen broke into the hotel at around 10:45 pm, kidnapped him at gunpoint, and brought him to an unidentified location.
At around 10:45 p.m., the kidnappers fired several bullets into the air before attempting to break into the hotel, he continued. They appeared to have had the DPO as their objective when they shot him in the leg before removing him.
The source claims that members of the Plateau State Police Command and other security agencies are actively working to rescue the police officer from his kidnappers in the area’s forest.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Alfred Alabo, was unable to confirm the kidnapping because calls to his phone went unanswered.
