FG to expand RAAMP to 36 states, trains staff
The Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP), according to the federal government, will be expanded to include all 36 federated states.
The RAAMP’s National Project Coordinator, Mr. Aminu Mohammed, revealed this during the organization’s annual retreat and staff training, which was held in Calabar from January 11 to 13.
The purpose of RAAMP, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), is to build access roads in rural regions to increase agricultural markets.
According to Mohammed, RAAMP is poised to have a significant influence across the nation, necessitating the expansion of the programme to all states.
He expressed his happiness at the programme now having 20 participating states, saying that the project’s initial accomplishments in Cross River and Kaduna in 2008 opened the path for its expansion.
He advised participating governments to take a more active role in carrying out the project so they might gain access to more funding to improve the infrastructure of their rural roads.
All hands must be on deck to accomplish the project’s objectives because, if we can do the job well, there will be more funding. Some of the state project coordinators are doing very well.
We are considering implementing technology in the project’s execution in addition to breaking it up into phases because we think that will help us accomplish more.
In his opening remarks, Governor Ben Ayade urged the project’s workers to put the interests of the nation above their own ethnic, religious, and political preferences.
Dr. Inyang Asibong, Commissioner for International Donor Cooperation, acted as the governor’s representative.
Ayade characterized RAAMP as a multifaceted effort that has the power to improve people’s lives, particularly those of rural residents.
He pledged to continue backing RAAMP’s mission to improve rural residents’ quality of life across the nation.
The World Bank Tasks Team Leader, Mr. Olatunji Ahmed, allayed concerns about potential difficulties that would prevent the project from moving forward smoothly.
He gave the workforce reassurance that the bank was prepared to guarantee a smooth implementation procedure.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the workers received training in a variety of areas, including systemic tracking of exchanges in procurement (STEP), team development, and project management.
