NigeriaDecides2023: Lagos INEC opens State Collation Centre, says no result yet from LG

No single result from the 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) has arrived at the State Collation Center more than 24 hours after polls opened in Lagos State’s presidential and National Assembly elections on Saturday.

At the official opening of the center for the final collation of election results in Lagos State at around 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, Adenike Oladiji, the state’s collation officer and vice chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, revealed this.

Mrs. Oladiji, who referred to the collation as a difficult task, stated that as of midnight, the center was still awaiting results from all 20 LGAs.

“This is an important national assignment that has brought us all together here,” the lecturer remarked.

Also, it is a task of global significance, which explains why we have observers from other countries in attendance.

“Our task is easy. It is really straightforward and uncomplicated if we follow the INEC’s well-established processes.

We hope that we won’t let our nation down in the face of this call to duty and national assignment. We can clearly see that the outcome is still pending.

“We are proposing that we meet again tomorrow (Sunday) at 10 a.m. so that we won’t just sit around waiting for the findings.

We anticipate that by then, some of our results will be in this room, where we can process them all.

The resident electoral commissioner for Lagos State, Olusegun Agbaje, had earlier thanked the collation officer in his opening remarks and mentioned that collation was in various stages throughout the state.
