The Nigeria Customs Service Comptroller-General, Bashir Adeniyi, has declared intentions to raise employee pay.

This was revealed by Adeniyi on Tuesday in an interview with Arise Television.

He claims that the service still places a high premium on employee welfare.

In 2023, especially in the second half, a number of significant capacity-building programs have been planned both domestically and globally for our officers, he added.

Over 60,000 Customs officers participated in various capacity-building programs both domestically and overseas. We made careful to begin the promotion exercise in Q3 2023, as we used to carry it over into the fourth or fifth month.

Adeniyi commented, “The last salary review we had was five years ago,” in reference to the pay review. We ought to do another review, in my opinion. We’ll examine a few of the benefits the cops have been receiving in order to carry out their duties.

“One of the things I believed I should do as Comptroller-General is to look out for the wellbeing of our personnel, especially when it comes to their welfare concerns.

And when you discuss that, you discuss their take-home pay, making sure the allowances are given on time, and setting aside money in case they have pain while performing their job,” the speaker said.
