2027: Kwara South Group Rejects Zoning, Urges Traditional Rulers To maintain Non-Partisan stance

It’s Kwara South integrity Group (APC)

We have noted the reaction issued by the so-called “Kwara 4 Kwara North Movement” in response to our Press Release on the 3rd of December 2025. Ordinarily, we would have had no reason to respond to a fringe political group whose only strategy is to rely on zoning as the pathway for their entitled and “anointed” aspirant. However, for the purpose of political education and correction of misconceptions that may mislead the public, we find it necessary to respond and clarify the issues raised. Our response is not for their sake, but for the benefit of well-meaning APC members and the general public who deserve clarity based on facts, not emotion.

OUR POSITION HAS NOT CHANGED

As progressive members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), our position remains consistent:
every qualified APC member from any senatorial district has the constitutional right to contest for governor.
This is the foundation of internal democracy. The APC Constitution protects the rights of all aspirants, without discrimination, and encourages free and fair competition.

We will continue to stand on the Constitution and uphold the principle that the governorship ticket of our party in 2027 will be decided by the people, through a democratic primary — not through media propaganda, pressure groups, or back-room endorsements.

ZONING IS NOT PART OF THE APC GOVERNANCE PROCESS

It is worrying that the K4KNM group continues to mislead the public by repeatedly mentioning “zoning” as though it is a legal instrument in our party.
Let it be restated clearly:

The APC does not recognize zoning in the selection of its candidates.

This is not our personal opinion — it is the Constitution that all genuine party members affirm. Any group attempting to impose zoning is either unfamiliar with the APC Constitution or deliberately misleading the public for sentimental advantage.

They referenced the 2023 presidential election to justify zoning. This is a careless argument. The APC did not zone the presidential ticket to the South. Every aspirant was allowed to enter the field and test their popularity. Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu won not because of zoning, but because of massive national support, deep structure, popularity, and political capacity.

Attempts to rewrite history must be resisted.

TRADITIONAL RULERS ARE CUSTODIANS OF CULTURE — NOT POLITICAL DECISION MAKERS

We hold our respected traditional rulers in very high regard.
They are fathers to all — not political officers or representatives of political blocs. Their constitutional role is cultural and moral guidance, not partisan endorsement.

Dragging royal fathers into active politics is a dangerous precedent — and the K4KNM position is evidence of that. Instead of allowing aspirants to sell their programmes, they prefer to hide behind palace endorsements.

For the record, the endorsement by a few monarchs does not represent the political will of Kwara South, and it is misleading for anyone to claim so. It is also disrespectful to present such endorsements as binding on an entire geopolitical zone made up of millions of citizens, diverse stakeholders, and active political structures.

KWARA SOUTH IS READY FOR GOVERNORSHIP IN 2027

We reaffirm firmly, confidently, and responsibly that Kwara South is ready to produce the next Governor of Kwara State in 2027.
This is not an emotional demand — it is based on preparedness:

✔ Competent individuals
✔ Years of political experience
✔ Strong structures across the state
✔ Proven leadership capacity

We are already engaging stakeholders within the state. Our consultations are peaceful, logical, and aligned with party rules.
We will not be distracted by noise campaigns or pressure tactics.

Supporting Kwara South does not negate the right of aspirants from other districts. We encourage every interested individual from Kwara North, Kwara Central, and Kwara South to pursue their ambition responsibly and respect the party constitution.

STOP DRAGGING SECURITY INTO POLITICS

We must address a dangerous narrative raised by the K4KNM:
They accused us of “ignoring insecurity” when we challenged the political role of some monarchs.

This argument is weak and divisive.

Security challenges in Kwara South are real, painful, and urgent. Communities are under pressure from bandit attacks. Just recently, His Royal Highness, the King of Bayagan, was kidnapped. Till today, he remains in captivity. Our communities are living with the emotional trauma of insecurity.

To assume that insecurity can be solved through zoning propaganda is irresponsible.

Traditional rulers, if they must speak, should call government attention to safety first — not turn insecurity into a political cover for endorsements.

We repeat: political imbalance does not cause kidnapping and bandit attacks.
Security requires a focused, coordinated response — not media politics.

OUR MESSAGE TO OUR YOUTHS

The loudest supporters of zoning appear to be youths who have reduced political debate to insults and emotional blackmail. We urge them to grow politically.

Politics is not war.
It is not insult.
It is not entitlement.

You can promote your aspirant without attacking those who believe in the Constitution. The beauty of democracy is contest of ideas — not contest of insults.

For us, logic will always defeat noise, and constitutional arguments will always defeat emotional speeches.

OUR COMMITMENT

We affirm our loyalty to:

✔ The APC Constitution
✔ Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu
✔ The leadership of the party at all levels
✔ A peaceful and united Kwara

We will continue our consultations across all senatorial districts because we believe that a united APC is stronger than any personal ambition. After the primaries, we will join hands with whoever emerges as our party’s flag bearer.

CONCLUSION

In summary:

Zoning is not APC policy

Every aspirant has equal right to contest

Traditional rulers are not political leaders

Kwara South is prepared for 2027

We will pursue our ambition logically, peacefully, and respectfully

We advise the K4KNM to allow their aspirant to test his popularity like every other person — instead of hiding behind endorsements.

2027 will be decided by the people — not by noise, not by threats, and not by false narratives.

May God bless Kwara State.
May God bless the APC.
May God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
