UCL: ‘Anything Is Possible,’ Lampard Optimistic About Chelsea’s Chances

When Chelsea plays Real Madrid at Stamford Bridge later this evening in the UEFA Champions League, manager Frank Lampard has stated that his team shouldn’t be written off just yet.

With goals from Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio and a red card for Ben Chilwell for cynically tugging Rodrygo back just outside the area while through on goal, the 14-time winners humiliated the London club.

In a news conference on Tuesday, Lampard stated that his team would try their best to overcome the two-goal disadvantage.

There is no question that we are a competitive squad and deserve to be here at this point of the league, but everything is possible in football, according to Lampard.”

The opponent is a very high-level player, but anything is possible if we play the game correctly, if we put in the necessary effort, and if we have the required preparation.

The 44-year-old was certain that the atmosphere at the Bridge would be important in the match, but he insisted that his team would have to offer the crowd something to get excited about.

“The atmosphere will be positive, I have no doubt about it. When I say that, I’m referring to the build-up to the game and the beginning of the game; the remainder is somewhat up to us as a squad to play with a true desire and expertise to turn the tie around, he said.

I’ve played at this level at Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on too many occasions, so I know the atmosphere will be fantastic for this evening midweek Champions League knockout game.

Lampard praised Italian Ancelotti and the club’s accomplishments since he took over in 2021 while analyzing the weaknesses of the opposition.

From the outside, they have a fantastic coach in Carlo Ancelotti, whom I know well from my time spent working with him. Because of the incredible resilience he led during their run to the final last season, I believe he deserves to receive all the praise at this time.

Then, what is very apparent from the outside is a core of players that have been there for a very long time and consistently perform at the highest level.
