Tinubu to world leaders: To those extending arm of friendship, I offer mine in return

President-elect of Nigeria Bola Tinubu declares his readiness to collaborate with world leaders who have “stretched the arm of friendship” in the wake of his election victory.

With 8,794,726 votes, Tinubu defeated Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who received 6,984,520 votes, and Peter Obi, the candidate for the Labor Party, who received 6,101,533.

Since the announcement, congratulations have poured in from world leaders, including Rishi Sunak, the prime minister of the United Kingdom, and the United States of America.

In a tweet posted on Sunday, Tinubu stated that the actions of international leaders serve as evidence of the “vital role Nigeria has in the world.”

I want to express my gratitude to the numerous foreign leaders who welcomed my election with heartfelt greetings, especially those from our friends in The Commonwealth, our neighbors in Africa, and other nations.

“The encouragement and assurance I have received from the international community is a reassuring sign that the rest of the world continues to be interested in constructive and fruitful cooperation with the Federal Republic of Nigeria. It also serves as a reminder of the significant role Nigeria plays in the world. Thank you from this magnificent nation’s incoming president.

“I extend my hand in friendship to those who have already done so. Now is a good time to hold onto the Nigerian dream and our rekindled optimism. Eagle of Nigeria will.

Tinubu’s triumph has not gone unnoticed, as opposition political groups have called for the outcome to be thrown out.

Both Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have stated their determination to contest the outcome in court.
