Election: Security agencies begin show of force ahead of elections in Kwara

says it is collaborating with other security organizations to secure voters, members of the Independent National Electoral Commission, and international and domestic observers in order to guarantee that the elections in 2023 will be peaceful, credible, and acceptable.

Also, it cautioned individuals from panicking or losing their composure when they notice security personnel moving across the state.

“This is part of the strategy put in place to protect the inhabitants and residents and a method to dissuade would-be criminal elements from entering Kwara state,” said SP Okasanmi Ajayi, the state’s command spokeswoman, in a statement made in Ilorin on Tuesday.

The chiefs of the state’s security services attended the emergency security meeting, which was presided over by Kwara State’s Commissioner of Police, CP Paul Odama, psc (+), and took place in the presence of some United Nations election observers.

According to the statement, “the security leaders resolved to work in coordination with all pertinent agencies to ensure elections in Kwara state are peaceful and credible.”
