Gov Abdulrazaq pledges to uphold ideals of Governors’ Forum

Malam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, the governor of Kwara State and the newly elected head of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, has vowed to defend the forum’s principles and mission.

In a personal speech delivered on Wednesday in Ilorin, Governor Abdulrazaq thanked his colleagues for their support of him in his new role as the forum’s chairman.

“I want to thank Allah, exalted be He, for the historic event in which my brother Governors gave me the chairmanship of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF),’ the statement said, in part.

I am well aware of the importance and enormous duties of my position.

I hereby promise to uphold the NGF’s ideals and vision while acknowledging and appreciating the organization’s distinguished history as a most credible, authoritative, influential, and effective inter-party platform for reaching agreements, finding peaceful solutions to disputes, and advancing the goals, interests, and aspirations of the entire nation of Nigeria.

In order to reach an agreement on all problems and advance and promote the national interest, peace, progress, and stability of the country, I will make sure that regular consultations with all members are held.

A close and cordial relationship with the President, the National Assembly, the Federal and State institutions, the business community, civil society, the media, and development partners would also be maintained, Governor Abdulrazaq promised.
