Oyebanji signs 2023 Ekiti budget of N113.6b
A mere 24 hours after the House of Assembly passed the 2023 Appropriation Bill, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, the governor of Ekiti State, signed it into law yesterday.
On November 2, 2022, the governor presented the parliamentarians with the N113.6 billion budget, which included N79.5 billion (70%) for capital projects and N34.1 billion (30%) for recurrent expenses.
Oyebanji stated that the 2023 budget, the administration’s first fiscal document, had been meticulously created following proper engagement with essential stakeholders in order to lay a solid basis for the administration.
He claims that the “Budget of Strong Beginning” for 2023 is his constitutional duty as governor of Ekiti. According to Oyebanji, “Our budget has fully adopted the national charter of account template, which is a requirement for the state fiscal transparency, sustainability program of results, and right now the state’s action on business-enabling reforms of the World Bank.” He also stated that the budget was created to lay a strong foundation for the administration while building on the accomplishments of the previous administration.
“Public members of the public will be presented with the breakdown of the 2023 budget of strong beginning, which I just signed into law,” he added.
Olubunmi Adelugba, speaker of the House of Assembly, stated that the governor’s first budget was in fact a strong beginning, guided by the fiscal policy and strategic focus as defined in the administration’s six pillars.
Adelugba, who stressed the importance of implementation, also indicated that the house had no doubt that the government will follow through on it exactly.
