Saudi Arabia Offers Mourinho £102m/Year To Coach National Team

Jose Mourinho, the manager of Roma, has apparently received an offer to lead the Saudi Arabian national team, making him the highest-paid manager in history.

Despite the fact that Mourinho’s contract with Roma expires in 2024, there have been disagreements regarding his on-field performance as well as a lack of investment in the playing roster, raising concerns about his future.

According to Corriere dello Sport, King Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, often known by his initials MBS and a big Jose admirer, has offered the former Chelsea manager a way out of Rome to manage the team in exchange for a contract worth €102 million year. This would give the 60-year-old manager two options.

One of those options would be to finish the two-year contract one year early, and the other would let him prolong it so he could assume leadership for the 2026 World Cup.

Additionally, according to Italian media, he might reunite with Cristiano Ronaldo at Al Nassr because the team’s current manager, Rudi Garcia, is scheduled to leave at the end of the current campaign.

Between 2010 and 2013, Ronaldo and Mourinho were teammates at Real Madrid, winning the LaLiga championship and Copa del Rey together.

The former Chelsea and Tottenham manager has already toyed with the idea of managing abroad. “Yes, I want to coach a national team,” he said to AS in 2020. “I want to have the experience of a World Cup and European Championship, the emotion of the short competition.”

Mourinho has also reaffirmed his ambition to work for the Premier League once more. Since leaving Spurs in April 2021, he hasn’t held a position in the premier league.
