500 user accounts of the 300-capacity zoom licenses have been approved by the vice chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Egbewole SAN, for distribution to various faculties and departments for the immediate start of virtual classes.

The virtual classes would run concurrently with the real classes, according to a statement released on Monday by Unilorin spokesperson Kunle Akogun.

According to the statement, faculties and departments have been given access to “approximately 500 user accounts of 300 capacity zoom licences for effective virtual delivery of lectures.”

Using the huge capacity zoom licenses, he added: “We have also produced virtual class schedules for courses with class sizes of approximately 1000, 3000, and 5000 people.

It is crucial to maintain the physical delivery of lectures and practical sessions in classrooms and laboratories.

He claims that the management implemented many initiatives to lessen the impact of the regrettable circumstance on the students in particular after learning about the transportation difficulties that the university’s students and employees were experiencing.

“Among them was a request that the Time-Table and Room Usages Committee modify the lecture schedule to make it more adaptable.

In order to enable the virtual lecture option, the university’s zoom licenses were also renewed by the management, he added.
