INEC partners telcos to address network challenges

In order to handle any issues that might develop during the elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission has stated that it is collaborating with the major network service providers, including MTN, Glo, Airtel, and 9Mobile.
At the INEC media briefing in Abuja on Friday, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, the INEC chairman, made this declaration.
Yakubu claimed that the commission has taken all necessary precautions to defend its systems and procedures from malicious attacks.
He continued by saying that while the BVAS simply requires an online process at the point of polling unit uploading, INEC has extensive experience transmitting election results via the iREV.
We’ve taken enough precautions to defend and strengthen our systems and procedures. However, Nigerians can rest easy knowing that we are aware that our resources may be vulnerable to attacks and have taken steps to protect them. I must also admit that we are keeping some cyber security-related matters to ourselves because the walls have ears.
“We have a great deal of expertise in Nigeria transmitting results in real time. Results for 105 national constituencies were successfully transmitted. Please know that we are aware of the difficulties and have the resources necessary within the commission to address them.
Since that the BVAS is not an electronic voting device, it will not be accessible online on election day. It is entirely unplugged.
Because it is not an electronic voting machine, the BVAS won’t be accessible online on election day. It is entirely inactive. When we transmit the polling unit’s results and we are ahead of the game, he explained, that is when we require a little bit of internet bandwidth.
The INEC chairman spoke on the matter of the Labour Party emblem being missing from the ballots for the Lagos House of Representatives: “The commission has a history of adhering to court rulings.
We have already given our legal department the duty of reviewing all the judgements we have been receiving, which have been arriving almost daily.
