Senate Honors Late Olubadan with Committee Room Renaming
The Nigerian Senate reversed its initial decision and approved renaming a committee room after the late Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Lekan Balogun.
Senator Sharafadeen Ali proposed the motion, highlighting Oba Balogun’s prior service as a Senator from 1999 to 2003 and his dedication to public service.
Senators from Oyo State further praised the late monarch’s positive impact and leadership qualities.
The Senate, after debate, adopted the motion, including renaming a committee room and holding a minute of silence in his honor. Senate President Akpabio even requested copies of Oba Balogun’s book, “Arrogance of Power,” be distributed to all Senators.
